A strategic partnership between Sir and Siemens to digitize electric vehicle manufacturing processes

“Sir” Company, the first electric car brand in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and one of the companies affiliated with the Public Investment Fund, concludes new agreements with various companies establishing manufacturing lines.

The company announced its agreement with Siemens with the aim of advanced automation of systems within the electric vehicle manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City.

This cooperation aims to support the development of the automotive industry in the Kingdom and promote economic growth in general, as Sair seeks to contribute about 8 billion US dollars to the gross domestic product of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by 2034.

The main goal of the agreements concluded by SIR is to integrate Siemens technologies in the field of digital industries to enhance digitization and automation in electric vehicle manufacturing processes. An important part of this agreement includes a commitment to knowledge exchange, as Siemens will provide an intensive training program for 100 SER engineers. This program aims to develop local content and enhance local expertise, while providing engineers with advanced technology from Siemens. This initiative also seeks to support and develop competencies in the automotive sector, and stimulate innovation in this field.

After signing the agreement, Sir Jim DeLuca considered the cooperation with Siemens an important step towards achieving Sir’s vision to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the forefront of the global electric vehicle industry.

He said: “At Sir, we seek to apply the latest digital industries technologies in the electric car manufacturing sector, which will make our factory more productive and efficient, and this enables us to achieve the ambitious goal of launching a range of electric cars in the coming years.”

The Siemens Integrated Automation concept is centered around implementing and enabling digitalization solutions for factory operations, and will play an important role in controlling and directing all aspects of production. The manufacturing facility will also deploy Siemens automation across manufacturing lines and production departments. Later on, comprehensive automation of factory operations such as robots, production lines and transportation, including safety functions and procedures.

Senior Vice President of Siemens in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Head of the Digital Industries Sector, Engineer Fawaz Al-Shammari, expressed his deep confidence in the future of the electric car industry sector in the Kingdom, which is led by the “Sir” company. Al-Shammari stressed Siemens’ commitment to improving the automotive manufacturing sector in Saudi Arabia by applying and transferring the latest technologies and digital industry solutions.

He also spoke about Siemens' commitment to contributing to achieving sustainable growth for the Kingdom through localizing technologies and developing national competencies and talents. This includes training initiatives across different sectors and the transfer of expertise to enhance local content and support the localization and development of national industries.
